Dressing Up

Recently I have had a complete lack of creativity and blog post ideas. That is, until I read this article this morning on Town and Country about dressing up for dinner that got me thinking about the importance of dressing up. I run a blog pretty much dominated by fashion, so I obviously enjoy dressing up. Not only does dressing up allow me to take pictures for my blog, but it also makes me feel more confident in my appearance. Today, with the "athleisure" trend growing, more and more people put forth less of an effort to look nice or get dressed up. I mean, I am completely guilty of throwing on a pair of Lululemon shorts and a tank and calling it a day. Why? Because it's convenient and I, like most people today, sometimes get lazy when it comes to picking out something to wear. With the impending start of school, one of my main goals is dress up more often. I'm definitely not saying it's wrong to dress comfortably occasionally, but there is a time and place for everything and I think that dressing up, especially for dinner, is very important.

I also found this article that reminisces on the days where people used to dress up for class which is actually pretty refreshing after seeing plenty of pictures of tee shirt and Nike shorts clad students getting ready for college. In my opinion, the way you dress for something shows how important you view the event. Dressing down could show carelessness at times. I know it's pretty cliche, but if I am ever stuck on what I should wear, my general rule is that it's better to be overdressed than under dressed! I really enjoy posts like this and felt that talking about this on the blog was definitely fitting given back to school time is just around the corner (for me it's in less than a week). Let me know what you think about this post! Thanks for reading!

  2. Great Post! Another reason why I believe dressing up is important is that it expresses charity toward those around you. Wearing something nice when meeting up with friends says to them that you care, that they are worth the time and effort to dress up for. I always try to dress according to how it may affect others and according to the situation. If Wearing something nice will make others feel important and loved, I'm always for it. Keep up the good work, Ashley!

  3. I love dressing up because it helps me express myself and feel a lot more confident! When I'm dressed up nice, I feel more confident and end up being a bit more outgoing and willing to step out of my comfort zone.
